NPPA Chairman is on an official visit to the Russian Federation, as a head of a high-level Egyptian delegation to attend the ceremony to start manufacturing the nuclear reactor vessel

Within the framework of the executive steps of implementing El-Dabaa nuclear power plant project, Prof. Dr. Amged El-Wakeel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA), paid an official visit to the Russian Federation, as the head of a high-level Egyptian delegation, to attend the ceremony of the beginning of manufacturing the nuclear reactor vessel, one of the long-lead equipment for El-Dabaa nuclear power plant project. The Egyptian delegation included Eng. Mohamed Ramadan, NPPA Vice Chairman for Operation and Maintenance, and Dr. Mohamed Dwiddar, the manager of El-Dabaa Project. The Egyptian visiting delegation was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Samy Shaaban, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA). The visit began on Tuesday May 31, 2022 by heading to the “Leningrad NPP-2” located in the city of Sosnovy Bor in Leningrad, about 70 kilometers west of the city center of Saint Petersburg. The visit was hosted by Mr. Prigoda Valdemir, director of Leningrad NPP-2. Because of the importance of this event, the Egyptian delegation was accompanied by Mr. Alexander Lokshin, Deputy Director General of Rosatom Corporation and President of Atomstroyexport, the main contractor of El-Dabaa project, and Mr. Alexander Korchin, First Vice President of Atomstroyexport Construction Projects Management, and Dr. Gregory Sosnin – Vice President of Atomstroyexport and Project Manager for the construction of El-Dabaa nuclear power plant. It is worth to mention that the “Leningrad NPP-2” belongs to Generation-III+ VVER-1200 reactors, and it is the reference plant for El-Dabaa nuclear power plant.
